20 Questions to Ask a Business Coach │ Part 2

Last month, I gave you ten great questions to ask a business coach before you hire them.

Having been a business coach for years, and hearing the questions that clients ask me (as well as questions I once had for my business coaches) has made me aware of how important choosing the right coach is to everyone.

You don’t want to commit and choose the wrong one.

You don’t want to choose one who isn’t committed to you!

You want someone who cares and is willing to do the work to truly make a difference in your business and YOUR life.

Today, I’m going to give you ten more questions to ask your business coach. These questions will further ease your mind and give you great insight into whether you and your coach are a good fit for each other.

1. Do you know the basics of business law?

Your coach doesn’t need to be a business law expert, but when it comes to the basics of business law, this is very important.

2. Have you ever worked with a client in a similar niche as I have?

This is a huge one. Having someone who already knows your business means they already understand some of what you want.

3. Can you help me grow internationally?

How big is too big for them? Can they take you to the international level successfully if you’re ready to move forward?

4. Can you help me with ALL areas of my business?

This is one to consider. From Marketing, Sales, Pricing, or day-to-day Operations, it is your core desire to run your business successfully. Can they support you in growing all areas of your business?

5. Can you help me grow to the next phase in your business?

Or can you stay with them for a long time, because they can help you grow for years to come? Things like how to hire people, how to work with partners, how to change your business from being self-employed, etc.

6. Do you make an annual plan?

Planning for the future is fundamental to the success of your business. This should be standard for them.

7. Do you make a financial plan and work with targets every month?

Again, this is part and parcel of running a good business. A great business coach will offer this from the start.

8. Do you understand how women operate when doing business?

This is a question with many answers. You may want a male coach to help you with some things you don’t do well as a female business owner. Or you may want a female coach because she knows exactly what you’re going through. You want someone who can do both!

9. Can you give me a guarantee of my outcome?

The point of you hiring a business coach is to grow your business. Wanting a guarantee isn’t out of the question.

10. Can you help me monitor my growth?

This is another aspect of coaching that should be standard. Monitoring growth is like analyzing data: it helps you see where you’re succeeding and areas that still need improvement.

There are a lot of questions to ask, but these questions are vital to the success of your business as well as the success of your personal growth. And you should be concerned about both to create the business you’ve always wanted.
