A Quick Tip for Self-Gratitude Post Thanksgiving

Nov 27, 2018

You got to love Thanksgiving.  It was that special time, where we ran out and did all those things to show our thanks to our loved ones.  Well during all that planning, preparing, traveling, and/or cooking, you may have forgotten about one very important person in this whole thanks-sharing picture.

That person was you.๐Ÿ’ž

You deserve as much gratitude and thanks as you had given to others.  So as a way to recoup from this past thanksgiving weekend, take a moment now to share some of that thanks towards yourself.

It could be anything from getting yourself a gift, spending some quality time doing the thing(s) you enjoy, or what ever that is that makes you blissful.

One great quick yoga exercise tip that I often recommend for giving yourself some well deserved gratitude and thanks is child’s pose.  This pose is a wonderful pose because it allows your body to relax, rejuvenate, and the pose itself represents giving yourself a full deep hug.  We all love hugs!!! ๐Ÿค—

You can do this yoga exercise anytime at home.  All you need is a few pillows and a clear space to lie down on.

  • Place the pillows on the ground on top of each other; sit on the floor with the pillows in front of your torso and your legs extended in a v shape.
  • Hinge forward from the hips and lay your torso on with pillows.
  • Allow the arms to wrap around the pillow and rest either your left or right cheek of your face on the top pillow.

Here is a picture of what this looks like:

Note: If you feel any discomfort in your neck or low back.  Modify this pose by bending the knees slightly, adding additional pillow(s) underneath your head for added support to the neck, adding pillows under the knees to support your hamstrings, or kneeling on the floor, sitting on your heels with your big toes together and separating your knees wider than your hips.

You can do this exercise any day of the week, practicing it as long as feels comfortable. Usually I recommend doing it for about 30 seconds to up to 2 minutes as great a time window to be in this pose.

Try it out, for some well deserved self-gratitude and thanks post Thanksgiving.
